Meaghan Holley was born and raised in Kirkwood, Missouri. She moved to New York City four years ago and settled in Far Rockaway last winter. Prior to Rockaway Rising, Meaghan sold things at Google, managed people who sold things at SinglePlatform (acquired by CTCT), and was head cheerleader/fundraiser for former gang leaders & drug dealers at Defy Ventures. Her goal for 2017 is to stop getting laughed off the dance floor.
Rockaway Rising is partnering with Laura Nesci and her organization, CommUNITYmovement, to run the afterschool portion of No Excuses in the Fall of 2016. Laura's professional experience in education has focused on After-School Programming in teaching, managing, curriculum writing and training. Past roles include NYC Program Director / Head Teacher for FLY Yoga Arts, movement and arts-based education in private and public schools; Curriculum Development / Creative Projects and Events for MakerState, cutting-edge STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design + Math) programing for kids (k-12) in NYC private and public schools; Board of Innovators for Tools at Schools, innovative design-thinking skills for kids in schools; Curriculum Designer / Director of Training / Head Teacher for Readak Educational Services, international reading and learning skills for kids in private and independent schools worldwide.
